The Story Of Ford Anglia 100EUhhh... I can't do this.... please help!
I just bought my Anglia because I thought it was a funny litle car. It looks like a cartoon/Donald Duck car to me. I did not know any technical about the car before I bought it. Similar to girls when they buy a car because it has a nice colour.
It was strange to me with this engine when I first saw it time. It might be because I don't know such old engines. With a bore at 60mm and stroke at 90mm this engine is quite different from new cars and even the Anglia 105E (80mm/60mm). So I got a little help from Ford Sidevalve Owners' Club Home Page.
Until 1947 UK taxation was decided by the Royal Automobile Club horsepower ratings, which were calculated based on the bore of the engine. This is why in the UK engines were generally long stroke. The 100E engine, although introduced after this date, kept the same internal dimensions as the previous 1172 cc sidevalve engine. The compression ration was not in itself related to the taxation class.

The 1948 Anglia was England called 'Sit up and beg' as someone said it was because the driver look like a dog sitting in the car and begging???. The fact is that the car was very thin and heigh.
The English small Ford production included several models in the years 1953-1959. As I only have knowledge about the cars using the 1172cm3 side valve engine only those is listed
- Anglia, two door passenger wagon
- Prefect, four door passenger wagon
- Escort, station wagon Anglia like
- Squire ??? (van)
- Thames 5cwt & 7cwt, van
100E vs. 101E
The steering wheel is mounted in the right side on the 100E and left on the 101E. Otherwise there is no difference. Later on when introducing the 105E the model number was the same for both left and right steering.
The Ford Anglia 100E was produced from 1953 to 1959. It was the successor to the earlier Anglia from 1948(or later).
The Ford Anglia was produced in 330,000 copies from 1953 to 1959.
Ford Anglia clubs in Denmark
There is no club anymore. There was a club few years ago but the members had different idea what to do in the club. I think this is always a problem with a club. I know some owners of Anglia's in Denmark and we talk now and then. We do not need a club to find spare parts as this can be done by knowing a few addresses in Denmark or by using the Internet. An event could be made easy if we all had e-mail which unfortunately not have.

I bought my Ford Anglia 1958 in October 1997. I have always wanted to have a 105E but it is quite more expensive than the 101E. I also looked for a nice Renault 4 CV 1959 or my dream car Chrysler 300D 1958, full size with a top speed at 230km/h. My purse said: "Not that much for a hobby car".
I saw a green Ford Anglia for sale in May 1996 and got in love imidiately. This was a car which I could have some day but this one was too expensive at the time. At the time I had a very cheap MZ from the former east Germany. In 1997 my Anglia came up in a price where I would join.
The 100E looks like a "silly" car to me. Taken right out of a Donald Duck magasine. To make it more silly I wear a soft hat when driving around (not the propella hat).
